Complex factories dispersing slag
After playing the game for only 160 hours i have worked out the ammount of slag you get is very high, this itself is not a problem but with only smart concrete to get rid of it needed a much higher ratio of silicon to mix which also adds more slag to the pile.
I personally would love to see a big complete setup to turn slag into something more useful or sellable.
I like managing byproduct and like the system i just want to find a more interesting way to deal with it.
Maybe we can refine it with water to make it cement which costs alot of power and multiple stages.

Sorry, guys... I never had the same issue you all seem to be expressing.
Sure, I churn through insane amounts of silicon to make cement, but.. Well, it seems it's one of the binding agents to make the stuff.
I can see the higher tiers of research reducing the need for as much silicon, but not to eliminate it.
But, the slag? Nah, I burn through it making blocks. By the time I reach the phases of the Laser, I need at least 5 fully upgraded cement factories chugging through everything as fast as I can throw it in. -

DrakHeres my aprox idea
Slag into Crusher > Into Smart Concrete Factory
Ice into Crusher > Into Smart Concrete Factory
Water/Ice can replace Silicon in smart concrete production,
If this is too strong in future build then a stage could be added to store the concrete after production in a silo to solidify for X time before use. -

Octavianor a building to bury/dispose of it would work as well, not just limited storing

Janos MarikThere is sometimes a contract to ship slag to earth for science. How about making those contracts always available so when we have downtime we can just ship the slag off the moon.
Also, maybe reducing or eliminating the need for silicon input to the concrete factory?
possible use in an assembler in place of silicon for some basic components the assemblers create? -

LorenzoSuggestion:
the waste is really too much!!
I suggest creating a grinder to eliminate what you don't need to get started. Subsequently, after appropriate research in the technology tree, a refining plant that allows the waste to be reconverted into useful minerals. -

WillSlag can be typically reprocessed through several steps to get some more minerals out of it (Rare Earth minerals in this case as the normal ones have already been extracted).
After that using it for smart blocks is good however maybe have another recipe that uses steel, silicon and slag with a lot more of slag-to-others ratio to create blocks. -

ExonfluxxYeah requiring Silicone to help get rid of slag while it produces slag itself just annoys me. I just feel like there needs to be an alternative way of doing this that doesn't produce slag. Also Later game even with upgrades it is still faster to use the press than the factory and if that is your intent then the cost of all the upgrades for cement factory needs to come down. I also love the contract that takes slag for science however it is random and I would love if this was just constant. The entire Slag system needs balance for sure. Making things annoying and costly doesn't equate to difficulty or fun.

PhilippeAdd a researchable upgrade to the smart cement factory to reduce (lvl 1) and eliminate (lvl 2) the silicone input ?

AlphabraAs an alternative, maybe need to use the slag for landscape manipulation, ie. flatten out some of the hills on the surface.

Andymight I suggest a way to get rid of the slag is to load it onto the cargo truck, take it out into the desert and when it comes back empty nobody talks of it ever again, kapiche!
In short, why can't the slag just be dumped onto the moon surface where it came from? If you need a specific game mechanic to do this, then the truck can take it off-site to chuck in a crater. It could be better if there was a new bulk storage that was little more than a fenced off area, with perhaps conveyor input only - no conveyors to take it back out, only drones if you change your mind. Then it could be used for other ores that you have too much of, including ice. -

Carla NascimentoAnother idea to reduce the amount of slag is to have the ice extrator to output ice and regolith instead of ice and slag.

StevenAs much as i like this idea i had 1mil slag and now im running through all of it and soon i will run out of it

MidnightThey did add the alternative recipes recently to turn slag into different resources at the regoliths without byproduct
